A Weekend Escape to Rewild Things Treehouse

The Perfect Lagom Retreat

Tucked away in the heart of Elmore Estate, perched amongst the treetops, lies a sanctuary of balance, simplicity, and nature—Rewild Things Treehouse. We recently visited this off-grid haven, embracing the essence of Lagom—not too little, not too much, but just right—by stepping away from the rush of modern life and immersing ourselves in a world where time slows, birdsong replaces notifications, and the simple pleasures of living well take center stage.

A Treehouse in Perfect Harmony

Arriving at the treehouse felt like stepping into another world—one where nature and design work together effortlessly. The timber structure blended seamlessly with the surrounding woodland, its large windows framing the rolling Gloucestershire landscape. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear: every detail had been thoughtfully considered.

The interior was warm and inviting, with natural wood, soft linen textures, and handcrafted elements that spoke to a lifestyle of simplicity and quality. A space designed not for excess but for intentional living.

A Kitchen Made for Slow, Thoughtful Cooking

In true Lagom fashion, everything we needed for a meal was there—and nothing more. The beautiful “Our Place” all-in-one pan was the only cookware required, proving that great design means having less, not more. A set of eco-conscious “Wild & Stone” dishcloths and hand towels sat neatly by the sink, a reminder that even the smallest details—down to the cloths we use daily—can be both practical and sustainable.

On the counter, a small tin of homemade shortbread from the estate awaited us, a thoughtful welcome treat. In the fridge, a glass bottle of milk from the local Wholly Dairy sat chilled, its creamy taste a world away from anything you’d find in a supermarket. These simple but high-quality touches made us feel instantly at home.

A Bath Under the Sky

As dusk fell, we took advantage of one of the most magical features of the treehouse—the outdoor bath. Set on the deck, with nothing but the whispering trees and twinkling stars above, it was the perfect way to unwind. There was something beautifully Lagom about it—immersing in nature, warm water against the cool evening air, the sound of an owl in the distance. Not too minimal, not too extravagant—just right.

The Digital Detox We Didn’t Know We Needed

With no distractions from phones or emails, our senses tuned in to the world around us. Mornings were slow, waking to the soft glow of sunrise and the gentle chorus of birds greeting the day. Instead of scrolling, we sipped coffee on the balcony, watching mist rise over the fields beyond.

A pair of binoculars rested on the windowsill, inviting us to take a closer look at the birdlife flitting between the branches. Time slowed as we spotted robins, woodpeckers, and even a kestrel hovering over the fields in the distance.

Inside, a small collection of board games encouraged us to be present, to sit together in the warm glow of the fire and enjoy simple, screen-free moments. It was a reminder that the best connections are often made over laughter, a shuffle of cards, or the roll of a dice.

Exploring Elmore Estate

Elmore Estate was right on the doorstep, offering the perfect opportunity to explore. The winding paths led us through ancient woodland and open fields, a reminder that true luxury isn’t found in excess, but in the ability to pause and appreciate the beauty around us.

Living the Lagom Way

Everything about the Rewild Things Treehouse reflected the Lagom philosophy—from the carefully chosen kitchen essentials to the cozy but uncluttered interiors. There was no excess, nothing unnecessary—only thoughtfully curated simplicity.

This escape wasn’t about doing more but about being present. Cooking a meal from just a few quality ingredients. Taking a long bath under the sky. Warming by the fire. Sleeping with the windows open, listening to the wind in the trees. Walking, resting, breathing.

In a world that often feels overwhelming, this place was a reminder that balance is found in the small, intentional moments. And that, truly, is Lagom living.

Would we return? Without hesitation.
